Yes, we will take a final meter reading and prepare a final bill. You will need to complete a Utility Address/Name Change form to complete the process. Please allow two business days notice and the form is available here Utility Billing Application.
When can I expect a bill?
Bills come out quarterly; January, April, July and October. They are due on the 23rd of the following month.
How can I pay my water/sewer bill?
Payments can be made either by cash or check at the Treasurer's office located at 6483 Waldon Center Dr. Alternatively, residents can pay their bills online at www.payindtwp.com. There is an additional fee for this service charged by the payment processing center.
If I have a question about my bill, whom should I call?
Independence Township DPW can answer questions concerning water bills during normal office hours, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, at 248.625.8222. For questions regarding payment, contact the Treasury Department 248.625.5115
Are there Late Fees?
A 10% late fee will be assessed on all bills not paid by the due date, as stated in our Township Ordinances.
Our tenants didn't pay their water bill. Can you help us out?
Water and Sewer services provided to the house are the responsibility of the homeowners whether they occupy or rent to someone else. Any water and sewer bills that are over 90 days delinquent as of October 1st of each year are placed on the winter tax bill for collection. We suggest that owners check the status of these accounts prior to the delinquent date.
